It started off great with some real interesting twist. Then it started to drop when the Shiori/Kaori storyline started. What I think was most wrong with it was how inconsistent it was. First you had the human fox and then the girl with powers that was manifesting itself. Then it just kind of turned into a regular drama show outside of the ending. The ending was also predictable. Having said all that it wasn't a terrible anime. It did leave unsatisfied by the ending though.

the Mei-Shiori stretch is the strongest part of the show by far
Shiori's arc in particular is the best, as it has no magic or OH WAIT WE WERE CHILDHOOD FRIENDS moments, just a sad little portrait of unfortunate people living depressing lives made worse by human beings being (un)intentionally horrible to each other.
He's a stylish, dashing gent with a great taste in waistcoats and pastries! A true brothic lolita!
