What is the norm for BF%?

I'm 5'8, around 175 and my friends say I'm overweight. It isn't really going to my head but my mid section is getting bigger and rounder. Just wanted to know what's normal body fat in people

The average american is probably 30-50%.

The norm is probably around 20%, anything under 14$ is considered athletic by most charts.
10% and under is considered elite athlete IIRC.
