With all the music in games, I never realized how much I truly appreciate this genre in video game music. Eternal Sonata, Castlevania, Silent Hill, Final Fantasy, Zelda, Soul Calibur, and Kingdom Hearts have some amazing tracks, like Broken Balance, The Sinking Old Sanctuary, Pianissimo Epilogue, Midna's Lament, Path of Repentance, Chasing Downstrema, and Hollow Bastion are good examples. Some of the other tracks, like Dracula's Castle, Crystal Teardrops, Forest Temple, and Seymour Battle are also really enchanting.
All these years of listening to Sonic, Mega Man, Guilty Gear, Soul Reaver, and all the non-vg metal that I enjoy listening to, and I never realized my hottest picks for video game music would make me feel like some pencil-necked geek. It's mindblowing and a little aggravating, really. I always saw myself as a rocker or even getting down to the MJ sounds of Sonic's Genesis days. But now I think I've found my true niche.
Has anyone else had a similar revelation recently?
