Tried this today. It's decent, but too much for what I'd like to pay at Taco Bell. If we hadn't gotten the buy one get one, it would have been a major ripoff. Why not just spend the extra $1.50 and go to Chipotle? To be fair, though, if I'd never eaten Chipotle, I'm not sure my reaction would be so negative.
Big mistake on their part, I think. Overall, I like both Taco Bell and Chipotle for different reasons. They each fit a different niche and I think Taco Bell would be best off emphasizing that. By puffing up their chests to compete with Chipotle at their own game, releasing a bunch of cocky commercials about it, and then not delivering, it's sort of embarrassing and kind of a waste of time/marketing.

Did the above post offend you? Well, I apologize. I say a lot of stupid things, but never with malicious intent.

Heh, I've been wondering what the Cantina Bell menu will be like. LMAO at those thinking it'll be as good as Chipotle, though! I don't have high expectations for it, and I'm worried about how they'll execute this, considering I'd rather see TB stick to its roots of having food for a cheap price. But I'm still interested, and there's no doubt I'll eventually try this new menu...
I'm a LOT more interested in returning to a TB, whenever the 2 new Doritos Locos taco flavors are introduced. Maybe they already have been, by some odd chance ?

Not everywhere has a chipotle, therefore this could be a good alternative. The closest one to me is like 1-1.5 hours away

i thought the black bean burrito was pretty good. i wouldn't splurge on anything else though on the cantina menu.

Yeah I don't think there is a chipotle in my state at all.

had the Cantina Burrito and it's not anywhere near the style (or even caliber) of Chipotle. They need to charge about $1.50 less or really up their game if they expect this thing to take off.

I think that living somewhere with no fast casual Mexican options is pretty much the only time this will be appealing. Those places are spreading to damn near everywhere, it seems, but for places without this stuff will probably be pretty good. The burrito is definitely a better value than the bowl.
Another big beef I had was the guacamole. I think it's an improvement on their typical guacamole-flavored green goop product. However, there is a really offputting fake lime flavor in it. Ever have one of those Pop-Ice (or similar brand) freezer pops? I think they add the lime flavor from the green ones to the guacamole.
