It makes my day, to tell you the truth.

Do you mean how important is it to me, or to the company I work for? For me, it's a big deal. I like to feel valued when I do a good job. The majority of the time, the work speaks for itself, but every now and then, I like to know that I'm being valued by those whom I work for and work with. Otherwise, what's the point of me being there if anyone can do it?
Mind you, I appreciate constructive criticism just as much as I do appreciation and praise. A good balance of both keeps me motivated and lets me know what areas I am excelling at and what areas I can improve.
As far as my company, not so much. At least, my bosses don't really do much to make me feel appreciated.
Congratulations! Your topic/post was deemed response-worthy.

It's important to me. A pat on the back is nice once in awhile, especially as an apprentice. For the first year or two of working you basically feel stupid every day.
