Wouldn't it be cool if there were visual indicators of upgrades on both ground and sky units? As in, actually graphical changes in the model like when you get the marine's combat shield. Suppose you get +1 armor as Zerg: Your roaches are now sporting more crystalline formations on their body, making them look heartier, beefier. +2 weapons as Toss? Your Zealots' psi blades are now larger, brighter, and GREEN!
I have no problem with clicking on a unit to see what it's upgrades are, but it's kind of a "meh" experience clicking on a unit and then looking down at some numbers. It would be much scarier to me if I saw a bioball sporting humongous weaponry and armor than if I simply knew in my head that he's got 3/3 by now. Basically, I love the way SC2 looks, I even love little graphical indicators like the stim lighting bolt and the widow mine timer. I just wish they had included such visual indicators with upgrades, as that's one of the few aspects of the game where you're interacting with simply numbers and nothing visually appetizing.
The visual differences wouldn't be too distracting as to hinder one's ability to identify the unit (e.g., a 3/3 Marauder wouldn't look vastly altered from a 0/0, as though it were a completely different unit). It would be on the scale of change as the marine combat shield upgrade or the baneling's altered rolling animation. The unit looks different, but you can quite obviously tell what unit it is.

Yes, this would look great visually. Sometimes I even forget to click on my opponents units to check for upgrades. Or even my own. This will make it a lot easier for me to know when I should go for that 1/1 or 2/2 attack timing.

Yeah, I like the visual changes for upgrades in place right now. Imagine if Banelings didn't roll or Speedlings didn't get wings :(.
I don't think it'd be possible for all units, but small changes for some of them would be welcome.

I would rather them stick with the current system of having graphical updates for special upgrades only.
Doing it for every +1 to attack/armor/shields would be silly.

Something for +3 would be neat. One or every upgrade would be a bit overboard. Cool but Overboard

At the least, let's make the special upgrades (i.e. the non-weapon dmg + armore upgrades) visually different. Hydralisk grooved spines (more spikes on them...or lengthen the spikes), infestor NP (something that sits on top...like Viktor in LoL), Raven HSM (visually carried underneath?), etc. Little things that make the game just a little better...like the rave party fusion core animation. :-D
