|Can someone recommend me some nice, light hearted manga? (7) | Posted on April 24, 2012, 4:52 p.m.|
|Ao Yori Aoshi|
Were either of these released in North America? Both seem interesting enough, more the former.
I think I have seen this one before. :3 It looks cute, thank you.
This series seems to have a rich world, which is appealing. Is it easy to find volumes of?
I really could not find much of any info on this... :/
It looks like I forgot to ask; preferably things that are not TO hard find in North America... though now I am feeling like trying to import some EU copies of Ao Yori Aoshi just cause...
|Can someone recommend me some nice, light hearted manga? (1) | Posted on April 24, 2012, 3:43 p.m.|
|Whenever I get into a slump, I have always enjoyed reading light hearted manga to raise my spirits. :3 I am not exactly in a slump now, but, it feels like this is something that would just help me along... well, that, and I enjoy reading mangas. :3|
So, could someone please recommend me some? :3 Things that I have liked:
Lovely Complex (probably my favourite Manga series, wish it was released in Omnibuses so it was no so expensive to own)
Inukami (Not great, but it was fun enough)
Chobits (never finished it, but what I read was nice)
So, yeah, some suggestions would be lovely. :3 Thank you.

|What instinct is that?|
|How do you feel about Veal, foie gras, etc. (43) | Posted on April 12, 2012, 1:23 p.m.|
|I do not want to sound as mean... but no. I can confirm that cows are genuinely nosie creatures. A car, when left alone, just sits there, you control everything it does.|
|How do you feel about Veal, foie gras, etc. (40) | Posted on April 12, 2012, 1:03 p.m.|
|Having been in close contact with many "food" animals in my time, I can say that many (cows, chickens, ducks, and geese... though I hate geese) do seem to show emotions, or at least, some sort of character. If I cow was just a soul-less food sack, I do not believe that they would be as curious as they are; some of the nosiest creatures around, really, besides my cats.|
And still, they are living creatures; I do not think that there is anything wrong with eating them, but we can at least treat them with a small amount of dignity. I could probably ramble more, but as I said, I am not trying to change your mind at all. I just disagree, and find your point of view mean. Then again, I also admit that I am overly sensitive.
Either way, I was just talking here to keep myself awake... but this really brought me down.
|How do you feel about Veal, foie gras, etc. (38) | Posted on April 12, 2012, 12:45 p.m.|
|What you said in that post seems to kind of contradict saying yes to my question, but then again, I am not entirely thinking straight.|
After talking, all I can really say is just that you outlook on this feels mean to me, which is where I started at with my emote. Then again, I really was not trying to change your mind, or prove that you are wrong, or anything, just seeing what you think.
I just do not get the lack of empathy, I guess. Oh well, everyone seems to be lacking empathy these days. No offense meant.
|How do you feel about Veal, foie gras, etc. (35) | Posted on April 12, 2012, 12:26 p.m.|
|Well, you could, but in the case where we are talking about torturing something that could possibly feel in this way, wouldn't it be better to assume they can, not torture them, and be wrong, then to assume they can't, torture them, and be wrong?|
|How do you feel about Veal, foie gras, etc. (32) | Posted on April 12, 2012, 12:18 p.m.|
|Alright... but how do we know that animals do not have some form of this?|
|How do you feel about Veal, foie gras, etc. (29) | Posted on April 12, 2012, 12:11 p.m.|
|Could you define self awareness for me please? As I said, I am a little tired (though trying to stay awake), and I would also like to hear your definition than assume you use a specific dictionary's definition.|
|How do you feel about Veal, foie gras, etc. (25) | Posted on April 12, 2012, 11:41 a.m.|
|A cat is a living thing, and it does have feelings and emotions. They do suffer. It's not a video game character.|
I'd also rather not step on the robot's foot either, seems unnecessary and mean. Why go out of your way to hurt either?
Still, one is a living thing, and one is not, which is why people would say one is immoral and one is not. One has actual feelings, and one has a program.
|How do you feel about Veal, foie gras, etc. (21) | Posted on April 12, 2012, 11:32 a.m.|
|But... how can it be right to just leave something in constant pain?|
|How do you feel about Veal, foie gras, etc. (18) | Posted on April 12, 2012, 11:09 a.m.|
|So, are you saying if you just continue the pain after the initial exposure, you believe that the animal will stop caring and not be suffering?|
|How do you feel about Veal, foie gras, etc. (15) | Posted on April 12, 2012, 10:45 a.m.|
|I am a bit tired (I bought an alarm clock that ended up not working, so my sleeping schedule is a bit wonky), and I am not sure if I could speak well on the subject in general, but I can try, I guess.|
I just find it strange that you say that an animal would not know that it does not want to be in pain. Have you ever accidentally hurt an animal? Such as, this morning, I accidentally stepped on my kitty's paw; she cried out in pain, and pulled away, running away. She obviously did not want to be there. Doesn't that go against what you said? If she could not long for a different state, wouldn't she have just let me crush her paw?
|How do you feel about Veal, foie gras, etc. (13) | Posted on April 12, 2012, 10:13 a.m.|
I don't see how something has to be self-aware in order for it to be unethical to intentionally inflect suffering on a creature.
That gets pretty philosophical pretty quickly, and I do wholly respect someone going a different way on the subject.
My reasoning is that creatures that are not self aware don't perceive pain and suffering in the same way that self-aware creatures do. There is physical pain and discomfort, but there's not enough self there to realize it doesn't like it. To my mind, suffering requires an emotional longing for a different state of affairs. That's something I don't think non-self-aware creatures can do.

|I am already almost a vegetarian, so I definitely do not feel good about these sorts of things. Though, I do not look down on people who do eat them. Now, people that get some perverse joy in eating them, or believe that animals do not feel pain (or that it does not matter)...|

|Is it a good idea to eat mainly meats and vegetables and sometimes fruits? (2) | Posted on March 21, 2012, 7:42 p.m.|
|Sadly, you should really try to work some fruit in every day. :(|
However, I would say that vegetables are definitely more important to eat.
The only tip that I really have is to try to buy fruits in season; I am not sure if it is the same in Canada, but fruits (and vegetables) will be cheaper when you buy them in their respective seasons. Fruits are expensive here too (SoCal), and this helps.
You should also try to include some other food groups, but I understand being on a fixed income. I hope I was helpful, if only a little, either way. Good luck. :3

|Bless you Jack in the Box for serving breakfast all day (9) | Posted on March 16, 2012, 12:10 p.m.|
|I would not give up on their breakfast completely, I have noticed, even in my local area, that the quality of Jack in the Box's breakfast varries from restaurant to restaurant. Like, some use different ingridients even.|
Not that I recommend eating it that much, if at all; everything at Jack in the Box is just horrible for you, and like, literally everything has trans fat. However, now and then, after a long day of work, sometimes their breakfast food just sounds appealing, which is why I am also happy about them serving it all day.

So, between the Novels, and the Anime... hrrm... this is going to be tough... X3
One of my biggest fears is wanting the one I do not get down the line, and being unable to get it, or having to pay an arm and a leg. :/
Well, unless some other people want to share their opinion of that is better (novels or Anime), I suppose that I will be thinking...

You missed the sale last week for the two seasons on Blu-Ray. They were both under $20 at Amazon.
I know! X3 I really wanted to get it for that price, but I didn't have the money yet. Ah well...
Wait, I am sorry, I read that wrong. Wrong sale. X3
Also, this board moves fast. Kinda nice to get replies to quickly. :3

|Hmm... I might as well get it, since I got so much money in Amazon gift cards. :3 Well, 75 dollars, so I will have some change, what with free shipping; maybe I can get a prepaid credit card and use get something with the last of that change, like the much cheaper FLCL.|
Anyways, thank you guys. :3 This gal appreciates it. *hugs*
I look forward to watching it. :3 ...It's good, right? It looks interesting at least. X3
|Is Spice and Wolf worth paying 68 dollars for? Seasons 1 and 2 (4) | Posted on Dec. 26, 2011, 6:06 p.m.|
|Those are the amazon prices. X3 I know that the BR copy of season 1 is cheaper, but, even though my dad has a PS3, I barely get to use it. :/ Which is why I was going for the DVDs, ya know?|
Season 2 WAS about 10 dollars cheaper a few days ago, but I did not have the money at that time... X3
Well, thank you for your opinion and help. :3
Also, this just seems like an expensive series... :/ I normally do not see single seasons sell anywhere near the not on sale prices they have listed... anyone else feel that way?

|The other thing I mentioned in the previous fell through the cracks, so I was unable to get the great deal that I was going to get with the limited edition set.|
Anyways, so, for the DVD sets of season 1 and 2, would you think that it is worth 68 dollars? Brand new of course. I am just curious, and would appreciate some other opinions.
So, if anyone can weigh in, that would be nice. ;3 Thank you.

|I just want to know; which version of season 1 fits into the space provided for it? I have found the original season 1 DVD release (expensive), the Viridian Edition and the BluRay re-release (I think they are the same price), and I am just wondering which of these is the one, if any. I hope the Viridian Edition, since I would like to have everything on DVD.|
This is intended to be for a Christmas Present, so an fast response would be appreciated. :3 Either way, thank you in advance.
...Pretty expensive for a present... maybe I should send him a note to watch the series on Youtube. X3
