|Updated matchmaking changes (1) | Posted on April 23, 2012, 7:45 p.m.|
With the launch of Season 7, we briefly relaxed matchmaking settings to occasionally match players with opponents that were slightly more or less skilled. We quickly found that these changes had undesirable consequences for players at the extreme ends of the skill range, and reverted to the previous matchmaking settings in response. After analyzing the data and reviewing player feedback, we found that the loosened matchmaking settings had a positive impact on many players that werent playing at those extremes.
With that in mind, we are now ready to move back to the more relaxed matchmaking system, after making some improvements to correct the issues we were seeing at the extreme ends. Players should find that a larger proportion of their matches are against opponents of similar skill, but there is some room to allow players to compete against easier and more difficult opponents. As a result of this change, players at the highest and lowest ends of the skill ranges should no longer be negatively impacted by the loosened matchmaking changes.
Matchmaking will not be more relaxed at the highest skill levels. In fact, weve tuned matchmaking at the very high end to favor more competitive matches over faster matchmaking. While this may have some impact on wait times, we believe that this adjustment will improve the ladder experience for high level players and make practicing on the ladder better than it has ever been.
As always, we will continue to monitor the effects of these changes and make further adjustments if necessary.

|I still struggle with mass marines (14) | Posted on April 22, 2012, 11:28 p.m.|
|Why exactly aren't the compositions cutting it for you? The Terrans I've played up to mid-masters can't split Marines effectively at all. What level are you playing at? Are you dying in straight engagements to mass Marines? Are you being constantly dropped by squads of them? Are Tanks making your units unable to connect?|
You really have to give more information or post a replay or something if you want a good answer.
From: DristX99 | #012
Grahf was successful with this solely because of his good Marine splitting, which was enough to carry him to whatever level he ended up at. His macro was actually quite bad (as in as bad as mine).
I killed him with mass Roaches plenty of times ezpz. Then he started building Marauders. F***ing metagaming t***.

|Few questions about Starter edition. (3) | Posted on April 22, 2012, 10:16 a.m.|
|It's online as Terran but only on certain maps. You do not have access to the matchmaking system and can only play custom games.|
The client for the starter edition is the same as the one for the full game. Once you activate a purchased SC2 key on an account, you just log in with it and you're good.
SC2 is wayyyyyyyyyyyy more noob friendly than BW. The matchmaking system ensures that you always play people at your level. The interface is also much smoother and has more features than BW's.

No, that requires the Protoss to f*** up his micro. The Zerg right clicks past the Protoss army and attack-moves when it's past it to get a surround. That's not "extreme micro". Forcefield and Fungal Growth are spells that specifically RESTRICT opponent micro capability.
Not to mention you need to use Lings to trap units so that Banes can get good hits and have to time the detonate button correctly.
You lose all credibility with this statement since you think people use manual detonations with their Banelings in non-ZvZ matchups. The involved micro for Banelings is frantically right clicking them towards squishy units. That's not impressive or difficult.
Not even sure why I'm answering you seriously. You're a joke if you think anything you just said is correct as you clearly have no idea how to actually play Zerg.

So he knows the TvZ/T strategies used in Code S already?
Interesting translation there. This made me lol:
11) The coaches REALLY WANTED to approach the foreign scene apparently. Like no other. But because of the strong idea that 'BW is ours and proleague is ours', the coaches couldn't approach the foreign scene. They see that the foreign community is there with the comments, team liquid, and youtube videos, but they just couldn't do anything about it. (tone of regret does exist here) They were happy that the previosu finals was done globally, but still sad that it's so late.
|Question about regions and more (7) | Posted on April 19, 2012, 10:20 p.m.|
|You generally leave games when your opponent has an insurmountable lead in either economy (mainly number of mining workers) or army.|
If you're new to the game, you probably can't recognize when these things happen, so no big deal if you stay a too long in games. Your opponents are at your same level once you've been placed properly on the ladder and will often times make huge mistakes that could let you take back a win when you really shouldn't be able to. Just play games out and don't worry about annoying people. If they end up with a win over you in the end, they're probably happy regardless. You'll get a feel for things eventually.
Just don't go and float your buildings to the corners of maps to drag games out for no reason. That's lame.

|Why does nobody put Changelings on Xel'naga towers? (11) | Posted on April 19, 2012, 2:56 p.m.|
From: Rajhin | #010
At the point that you'd have an Overseer in a game, 1 or 2 Lings are not at all a big deal at any level of play if they aren't running around in your enemy's base. They're pretty much free in the late game.
Nothing wrong with putting either Changelings or spare Lings on towers. I prefer Lings because they get to towers faster and you can burrow or run them if your opponent approaches the tower. Burrowing lets you retain vision in that small area and tells you if the opponent has kept a unit there. If not just unburrow, and if yes, then you know for sure and can keep an eye on what he keeps there. I've had stupid Terrans waste scans killing this single Ling in some cases too, which is always a bonus.
