Though Twitter is a privately owned forum, and well within their rights to do this, its still funny to see people get banned for having opinions. When I was really small, I burned both of my hands by picking up a pan on the stove. My sister asked me to take something off the burner, and I guess I was too stupid to realize that she meant "by the handle"... I learned the concept of things being really hot, really quickly. I still don't know who was at fault there, but I'm going to blame it on my sister, because I couldn't have been more than 5 and expecting me to have a working knowledge of kitchen appliances was probably over my head.
Um, not sure what I'm getting at here. Burns suck. Hope you get well.

For me, its Unlimited SaGa on the PS2. Not only did the game disappoint as a SaGa title, but even disregarding the franchise it killed, it was still a really, really bad game.

$250 seems like a lot of money just to pay for the privilege of playing PC games. After all, I'd only be using Windows because I have to. How do NGG's PC gamers get around this problem? Do they pirate the OS or just violate the license agreement?
I bought a used comp for $400 that had W7 installed on it already

SunburnCostanza posted...>Women wear pants 10x tighter than most men, for the purpose of showing off ass (not complaining btw)
I think he's just saying women in general wear really tight clothes to show off their form and men don't (or if they do they are the exception)
I mean, you don't usually see men walking around in skintight jeans, but women almost always wear them, so its not really sexist to depict a fictional woman wearing a skintight outfit while the men wear less revealing outfits since that is how average people dress in western society
|Hi. Is Chrono Cross a "pre-rendered background"? Am I using that term right? (18) | Posted on July 8, 2012, 12:54 p.m.|
Yes its a very cool graphics style. I'm sad that almost nothing uses it anymore though.
The problem is that you have to render the background for each resolution you want to display at. For a PS1 this isn't a problem because it always displays at the same resolution every time.
For a modern game system, they all come in multiple resolutions and HDTVs have adjustable resolutions so that makes it a lot more work to make pre-rendered backgrounds that won't be stretched to s*** when someone uses a resolution you didn't anticipate
I think they will eventually make a comeback on handhelds and iDevices, since handhelds have very fixed resolutions
Probably see some late-gen 3DS/Vita games using pre-rendered.

|Last video game you wished you never spent money on? (24) | Posted on July 8, 2012, 12:45 p.m.|
Can't believe Blizzard dropped the ball on this one. Of all companies, I expected them to at least have some standard of quality. I expected a sequel to, what may be the best PC game of all time, to actually be half decent. I thought 6-10 years of development time was enough for them to make something good.
It wasn't utter crap, but there are so many missing features and glaring flaws with the game that it feels like the "real" release is still 2 years away.

|About to start Demon's Souls, any advice? (19) | Posted on July 8, 2012, 12:15 a.m.|
|Enjoying the game so far. |
Warning, possible spoilers ahead!
Against the advice of Royal, I went with Temple Knight. I know that class doesn't really matter too much, but I just liked the starting equipment better. I did pick up the Cling Ring in the first area and it's helped out a ton. I haven't looked at any walkthroughs or wikis or anything.
So far, I've beaten Stonefang Mine (I think) - killed the Dragon God. I came back to Boletarian Palace, and after quite a few tries, finally beat the Penetrator Demon tonight. That fight was frustrating, but really fun once I actually had it down correctly. Waiting for him to charge, then swiping once at him, and dodging back out was really cool. That glowy 1-hit-kill attack had me mashing the dodge button quite a few times...
Not sure if I'm following a "normal" progression path or anything, since the worlds aren't connected. I haven't gone to any of the worlds other than the Palace and Mine so far. Equipment I'm using is the Mirdan set that the Temple Knight starts with (haven't found any other gear yet, other than the Plate set that the NPC sells, which seemed worse than Mirdan). Primary weapon is a Bastard Sword+5, but I used a Winged Spear for the scaly guys in the mine. Edit: Oh, and my shield is uhh.. I forget the name, but it's probably the first really heavy shield you come across. Its the big shiny metallic one... (not knight shield, bigger and heavier)
Soul Levels have mainly gone into Vitality, Strength and Endurance. I put enough into Faith to unlock the 2nd Miracle slot, and a couple points (not many) into Intelligence to increase MP. I'm somewhere around SL45-50ish, I think. Also I haven't summoned anyone.

|Lamenting the death of the instruction manual... (25) | Posted on July 7, 2012, 6:35 p.m.|
|I enjoyed reading the really big manuals that had actual stories and stuff in them. PC games back in the mid 90s often came with thick manuals that weren't just the game's rules and help, but were often full of world-building lore and character bios, art, and so on. Blizzard games in particular, back in the Warcraft 2 / Diablo / Starcraft era had really awesome manuals that had in-depth story information on EVERYTHING, down to individual unit upgrades, spells, clans, and more. You could literally read an entire paragraph about how a certain type of rifle had been invented and named, or what ogre chieftain came up with the name for the name for their clan.|
Really, really miss that stuff. I love immersion, and big manuals brought big immersion.
|c/d the ds library while vast, isnt exactly "great" (45) | Posted on July 7, 2012, 6:31 p.m.|
I see a lot of people that don't know anything about the DS. It has some of the best and certainly the most JRPGs this gen. Visual novels also can't simply be found on other consoles. And super niche yet great stuff like Monster Tale and Radiant Historia have no competitors on other systems.
I agree that there are some super awesome JRPGs on the DS, but the PSP also has tons of awesome titles that go ignored by the masses... I think its safe to say both systems have really awesome libraries and a lot of overlooked titles. The PSP often gets brushed aside since NGG users tend to focus on the "AAA" and miss out on great games like Gurumin, Half-Minute Hero, Jeanne D'Arc, Prinny CIRBTH, Loco Roco, etc.
To be fair though, most "AAA" games on the PSP f***ing suck. Stuff like Assassins Creed, Gran Turismo, Soul Calibur, and many other watered-down console games are all terrible, terrible games.

|Why does the online in Demon's Souls seem way more active than Dark Souls? (1) | Posted on July 7, 2012, 4:12 p.m.|
|As I play Demon's Souls, I find most good messages have ratings well over 300+, while in Dark Souls, it was more in the 10-20 range. Is this just because the game hasn't been out for as long? Still, I'd think 9 months is long enough to get some high ratings up.|
I also see WAY more player ghosts, and bloodstains, in Demon's Souls. Did they just reduce the amount you see in Dark Souls or something?
Either way seems like Demon's Souls has a more active online element or its just programmed better.

|I'm not talking about games where people's opinions vary slightly (it was ok, it was good), but those games where you get extremes on both ends, people hailing it as GOTY and others calling it the worst game ever made.|
In other words "love it or hate it" games.
Some that come to mind for me are Borderlands, and Final Fantasy 12. These games have always been hugely divisive. I'm not quite sure why though. What makes certain games really divisive? And what are some more examples?
