|This sounds... awesome...|
But you would definitely need a reason for people to not go to the surface, I like the acid rain and constant night ideas so I would do that.
If this became a real thing, would you be forbidden from going to the surface entirely, or would it only be very dangerous and not recommended?
I'm tracking this, hope that something cool comes out of it.

|I have a serious sleeping problem. (21) | Posted on Aug. 13, 2011, 4:22 p.m.|
"If you sleep with the door open, your house will be unsafe and mobs will always spawn unless you destroy and replace the door. " -minecraft wiki
Try destroying and replacing all doors to your house.
"If a hostile mob can get within 2 blocks of the bed, even if the blocks are separated by a wall, you will be awakened with either a skeleton or a zombie standing next to you. There appears to be a slight delay before the mob attacks you, giving you time to get the first blow. "
Also from the wiki.
"If you use your bed, and have a door with a right hinge (as viewed from the outside), monsters can still get to you and wake you up, as though no door was present. One example of this is a room with double doors, at least one of the doors will be unsafe. This can be avoided by leaving the door open, rather than closed, when sleeping. "
I don't think any of those are the problem. I don't sleep with any of the doors open, the room with my bed is a single door, and I have my bed arranged so there is a line of blocks between my bed and the wall, and the wall is on the edge of a cliff, so nothing can spawn on the other side.
The thing that I am most confused about is that it seems to happen at random intervals. I'll sleep fine for a few nights, then be awoken suddenly.

|I have a serious sleeping problem. (1) | Posted on Aug. 11, 2011, 2:34 p.m.|
|Alright, so when I tried to go to sleep in my house I was awoken by a zombie eating me. Now this is a fairly normal problem, since Notch decided that the only way to prevent beds from being used improperly was to make it so they can't work when placed right up against a wall. I was a little surprised this was happening though, since the room my bed was in was on top of a cliff, and the wall it rested against had a sheer drop. But whatever, I moved the bed so it was a block away from the wall, and it seemed to work fine.|
However, despite this working the first few nights, when I tried again today I was once again woken up by a zombie. So now I'm confused. Its not a big house, so I know that there aren't any unlit or open places inside. And also, the room with my bed in it is closed by a door, so even if they spawned in the house, they still shouldn't get in my room. Any ideas on why this continues to happen?

|A toilet. Make a 1x1 block, put a piston under it, and then place water in it. Put a lever next to it so it activates the piston, then dig a sewer shaft under the piston. That way, you can throw things you don't want into the water, then hit the lever so it will be carried down to the sewers. Its like an incinerator, but fancier.|

|Suitable replacements for Zmod? (1) | Posted on July 15, 2011, 3:52 p.m.|
|I help run a Minecraft SMP server and until the last update we used a server mod called Zmod. It basically made spawning items and changing time and weather much easier with commands, as well as adding in an admin and moderator system and teleportation ability using shrines. |
This was all well and good until 1.7 released, as the maker of the mod has still not updated it yet. It has been a while now and I was wondering if there were any other server mods that would act as a replacement, at least until the mod has been updated. Preferably the mod should have similar effects to Zmod, such as teleportation and flight mods, while not adding anything particularly drastic. Any recommendations?

|Marble (1) | Posted on July 14, 2011, 6 p.m.|
|I've been trying to create some Roman style buildings, however none of the available materials fit the description. So I was thinking that a cool idea for a possible addition to the game would be marble. It would probably spawn fairly close to the surface, like coal, and be somewhat rare but come in fairly large veins. |
I imagine it would be a mainly decorative material, you could make marble topped furnaces and countertops, marble half-blocks, as well as statues. You can make either small statues or a person sized one depending on how many marble blocks you put into the crafting bench, and the statues can be put down on the ground. When put down, they act like paintings, where they make a random design, and when retrieved and put down again it will be a new, random statue.

|I own a multiplayer server with several regulars, and while its going to be a while before it is released I was wondering if you guys had any idea of how 1.8 will affect it. I've heard that singleplayer worlds won't work after the update, so what would happen online? Would the new NPC villages and ruins not spawn within any explored parts of the server, or not at all? Any idea?|

|Though I myself have never gotten into it, I don't have any major problem with pixel art. I find its best to have a designated place where people can build and enjoy them, that way everyones happy.|

|My Minecraft refuses to update. (1) | Posted on July 1, 2011, 6:48 p.m.|
|Yesterday I tried out the new stuff in my single player world, crafting some shears and collecting some leaves. Today I tried to update my textures to fit the new version of the game, I changed out both of my Painterly's and then told my MCPatcher thing the texture packs told me to download to patch my game.|
However after doing that my game seems to have reverted back to 1.6.6. When I went back to my singleplayer world the shears I made were deleted from existence, and the game wouldn't let me craft new ones. Trying to go on my multiplayer server just results in it saying that I have an out of date client, and then saying the stream was lost, and the main menu says 1.6.6 at the top, instead of 1.7.
I know that Minecraft usually updates automatically, so I not really sure what has happened or what to do. I downloaded a new version of MCPatcher, but that did nothing, so do you guys have any suggestions?
