Although, I hope with the 3DS other third party developers will take it more seriously. I think they can now. With it being more powerful / having a control stick.

I think the water-gun was a unique idea, and they can perfect it in a sequel.

Vita is a glorified PS3 extension.
For a handheld, that's pretty cool. Plus, it has two control sticks, doesn't it? I think it has a lot of potential to it. Its just that right now, they didn't really build enough hype properly.
Nintendo kind of dangled and jiggled their keys infront of us, like we're toddlers, with the 3DS. "ITS IN 3D *****ES!" Where as the Vita, people looked at it as a PSP with better graphics. Not to mention, I don't remember any heavy hitting games being in the making for it. Where as the 3DS got to show off the new resident evil games + Mario games + A bunch of typical nintendo stuff that people will willingly pay through the ass for.

i mean, you don't even have to play the campaigns in L4D consecutively. You just pick whichever one you want from the start. That just feels kind of...terrible, and lifeless, to me. As a gamer who likes to play through an entire game from beginning to end. Not Starting at whatever's easiest then working up to whatever I have trouble with. That's almost like cheating, But...of course, the game isn't about beating the game. Its about shooting zombies point blank in the face with a shotgun, or spazing out with an uzing shooting at a crowd of zombies so big, you couldn't possibly miss.

|Meh, 6 bucks for that game is the maximum price anybody should have to pay for it.|
Its about as deep as a browser game on those flash-game web-sites. Only with great graphics / detail put into everything. But other than that, its just about shooting zombies in the face, with a small, non-diverse selection of basic weapons for hours on end.
It almost makes my brain hurt, on how simple it is. I know that's a strong point for an online co-op game. But I'm more into playing by myself. Either competitive death-match online games, or just single player.
Although, I can recommend Borderlands as a co-op game. Not the best thing I've played, but its not as repetitive and simple.

it looks like SM64 mixed with a 2D platformer and none of the SMG gimmicks or waggle.
how can you not like it o_O
Because, 3D / 2D games really ,really piss me off. I'd much prefer it to be 100# 3D. (Which, thank God, there are a few 100% 3D levels in the game. But the fact that they'd even put in an Air-ship level, with a boring, generic level design, speaks to me that they're running out of steam.)
Especially with this Comet Medal / Star Coin collecting. I've tried to get all the star-coins out of the first world in NSMB, but its just so boring I can't bring myself to it. Period. I doubt I'll have any interest at all in collecting them in this game.
But, as I've said, I'm just currently unimpressed with what I see right now. I have hopes that it'll get better. And, I'll probably buy it either way, lol. If anything, snag a used copy at gamestop and refund it right after I beat it.

|You have to beat OOT 3DS once to get access to Master Quest? (27) | Posted on June 17, 2011, 2:06 p.m.|
The Master Quest is a sort of "remixed" version of OoT. In dungeons, enemies and puzzles are changed up a bit.
In the OoT 3D version of Master Quest, on top of those changes, the world is mirrored and enemies do double damage.
That sounds incredibly soothing. But, if I don't get many games after I get my 3DS, it'll be something I could dick around with.

|The thing that disgusted me most, was the air-ship level scene. I'm a huge fan of SMB3, in my opinion, its my favorite mario game. But come on, those levels are not cool for a 3D environment. Especially a side-scroller. I don't know, it just pissed me off by looking incredibly generic, and re-hashed. At least NSMB wii introduced many new mechanics to make the air-ship levels awesome. What I saw there was just little bits taken out of every mario game ever made, to make a montage of everything we've seen before in the series.|
Now, I'm just going by what I've seen in the trailer, of course. What I saw in the trailer (Aside from the blocks that would teleport you... kind of a lame new feature. But its something) Was nothing new. Same old looking boss fights, power-ups, comet medals too, apparently, level designs...just about everything. They're just mixing it up in a different order.
I'll probably buy it eventually, but I don't see where they're going after this game with the series, Nintendo needs new characters.

Yup, only on the wii, you can move around with a thumbstick on a wii mote. And play games that aren't terrible.
Sure, I think the wii has an abundance of ****y games on it, meant for 3 year olds. But the control lay-out has more opportunity, and diversity than the kinect.

I concur with this. But its been so long since I've played a mario kart game seriously, I can't remember the names of many tracks.

|I suppose. you're right. I never really bothered with getting a black-tail / any other handgun, cause I just went with the most powerful.|
Maybe I'll get the desire to play the crap out of the game again some other time. RIght now I've only made it halfway through on a second playthrough.
And no, its not a second round. Because my original game got deleted on accident...somehow. Which added to my frustration, lol.
|I'm starting to like RE4 less and less now (rant topic) (5) | Posted on June 16, 2011, 8:32 a.m.|
1. I don't think it's too awful that you don't feel the game is worth extra playthroughs, many people feel that about tons of games.
2. Upgrades and game difficulty tend to stay pretty close together, that's nothing new.
I suppose. But in RE5, by the time I got to the end of the game, I could tell my weapons were better. You don't upgrade to barely star in the power-curb. You actually see an improvement.
3. What do you mean by not knowing what the other guns are doing in the game? They all have pretty specific uses.
I meant other handguns. "Why are there so many handguns in the game" When you can easily get the best of all of them so early in the game. Why use any of the others? They all function the same way. Especially with the wii-mote.
4. I'm confused by what you mean by playing the game with only the handgun and then buying new guns and upgrading slower.
And no, I meant they should have let you play the game with your original set of guns (Level 1 handgun, level 1 shotgun, ect.) And making upgrades more expensive. Obligating you to upgrade your normal weapons, instead of buying new ones.
5. Sure, a fair argument. But you say the RE5 curb stomp fixed this? It's just another prompt attack. Why does the curb stomp save RE5, but the kick or suplex doesn't save RE4?
Well, usually in RE5, you could pun them when standing up, THEN curb stop them on the ground, which usually kills them later in the game. Its faster than knifing them. Plus, they have more melee moves so its not as repetitive. Its not a huge flaw in RE4, but I wish it could have been improved.
6. Shotguns aren't to speed up gameplay but to get out of jams, like when you're surrounded.
Which is what I use them for. I must have really ****ed up my original messages. Idk what's wrong with me today, miss-reading things and making typos.
7. It seems like you're playing the game very conservatively with ammo. Why not shoot more often instead of shoot-kick-knife x15ing? You might be making it more tedious than it normally is.
|I'm starting to like RE4 less and less now (rant topic) (1) | Posted on June 16, 2011, 7:57 a.m.|
|I absolutely loved it on my first playthrough. But...I don't really see the reasons for coming back to play the game. Because there's virtually no surprises left for you after you beat the game once. and saving up 1 million gold to get a Tommy Gun sounds mind-warpingly tedious.|
1.)I got the Red-9 (Assumably the most powerful handgun) fulled upgraded in the first playthrough. I don't even know what the other 3 handguns are doing in the game. Not to mention, after I fully upgraded it, enemies still took the same amount of shots as they did at the beginning of the game. So it seems like the rate your enemies grow stronger, and the rate you upgrade you handgun, pretty much level out to no improvement in combat efficiency whatsoever.
I didn't fully level up the shotgun or magnum. But I was able to upgrade them a bit, and buy the best ones, at the end of the first playthrough. I would have preferred playing the game first with a handgun, then getting an option to buy new guns and upgrade slower, or stick with one gun for the game and buy a new set during a new round.
2.) Combat gets too repetitive: Shoot their legs, kick, knife to death, repeat x1000. This was fixed in RE5, with a curb stomping feature. But still. There's no reason to use shotgun ammo to speed up the gameplay, just because you think its too slow. So your stuck with shoot people in the foot with a pistol, then mutilating them for 15 seconds.
END RANT. Comments, if you like. Right now I just woke up, and am bored. Hence the long message. And for the record, I still really enjoyed the game...the first time through it. It was absolutely amazing. I just think it gave away too many / all of its secrets in one go.

As for NEs games, and SNES games, I've run into the problem of being unable to beat them. Or, games like Kirby's adventures, got to the final boss fight and just said "Close enough", although (Spoilers) I gotta say, its very clever how they made you think it was King Dedede at the end who was the final boss. then throwing in a pointless boss, who is a character I've never seen once before in the game.
And then there's The Legend of Zelda. Actually a really fun game, but I'd love to play that on the 3DS's VC than on the wii. Because the TV is in such a horribly uncomfortable gaming area. So its just irritating to sit down and play whenever.
I just need a meaty game that's fun to 100$. And has aged fairly well. I'm thinking of OoT, but I wanna get that on the 3DS. for the sake of something to play on it.
