There is a 100% chance of these responses occurring verbatim within the first three posts. No more creativity. You will never see a topic where these responses don't occur exactly as I've stated them. Just the same stupid answers every single time. Either that, or it's a sign that I'm getting too old for this site.

Bulls***. I have a 3.51 in anthropology and I'm not getting job offers even from burger flipping jobs.
|Do most prospective employers nowadays contact you through phone or by e-mail? (1) | Posted on June 15, 2012, 3:30 p.m.|
|I'm really worried about phone calls, so I have my phone by my side literally all the time except when showering. But I'm still afraid of missing one. The benefit of e-mails is that you don't have to be there when they arrive, but they're also less sincere because they're less "immediate," so to speak. Do employers contact you however you specify it on your resume? I listed both, but I'm praying they save me a lot of trouble and e-mail me instead.|

|Problem is that I lack the wherewithal, i.e. a job and any income. I'm not going to let her know that, of course. But she seems to get along with me just fine, and I get the feeling that she wouldn't decline a date with me. I'm only holding off because I know that doing otherwise wouldn't get either of us anywhere. And that's probably even worse than knowing that she wouldn't go out with me because now I have the chance, but the right thing to do is not taking it.|
Oh well. At least I probably have it better than AE.
|Why is Greece such a forgotten country nowaday? It used to be so powerful (1) | Posted on June 15, 2012, 1:48 p.m.|
|The birthplace of Western civilization. And now, people associate it with gyros and the movie Hercules (which isn't even a Greek hero; Hercules is a Roman name). Now the big countries in Europe are the United Kingdom, France, and Germany. I can understand that, but it's strange that Greece just became so forgettable after it used to be so great.|

|Damn you liberal arts major. I'm starting to regret even thinking that it was a good idea. But I suck at math and only managed to get a 2.4 in the second part of the introductory calculus sequence. If I go back, I'm not going to be any better off. Am I screwed, CE?|

Bro, what the hell did you expect with an anthropology degree? Join the military, officers get great pay and benefits, and all the experience you could want for a resume.
Wait a minute, how did you know I have an anthropology degree? I don't think I ever told CE that.

just bombard applications all over the place
Some of the "required experience" expectations are absolutely ridiculous. But you're right about just going for it if it's only like a year or two. There are ones I'm afraid of applying to because I know I'm screwed when they ask me why I'm interested in the position and I have nothing to say but money.

Is your gimmick b****ing about not having a job? This seems like the only thing you talk about.
This is a recent development. Before that it wasn't a problem, but it gets much worse when you're not in school anymore and you're applying online to various jobs all day.

how many jobs have you applied to?
Let's try to list off the jobs I've applied to:

- Building maintenance
- Parking lot route attendant
- Content Writer - Translate Rap Lyrics Into English (not joking)
- Admin/Customer Service
And many more to come...

|Some people will say it's impossible and you can forget about it. Others will say that race is a stupid thing and it doesn't matter. While I'd like to believe that's true, it's not always that easy. There's always going to be some idiots out there who say it can't work. But what does CE think? There's a liberal bias on this site, so I already have an expectation of the answers here. But it's always interesting to get some feedback.|
|From my experience, white people get more offended by the "n-word" than black (1) | Posted on June 14, 2012, 6:21 p.m.|
|people. I mean think about it. When's the last time you saw a black person get really worked up about being called that word? When's the last time you saw a black person get angry and start to attack a white person for using that word? Never, because it literally never happens. Yet we all have this image in our minds of that happening if we use that word. And why is that? It's completely illogical. Most stereotypes are grounded in reality, but this one is completely false. It just never happens. Literally the only time you see people getting upset over that word is when white people hear it, and immediately their first instinct is to try to cover it up so that black people don't hear it. Little do they know that black people couldn't care less, and they're the ones blowing it out of proportion.|

you're overqualified for the jobs they have and underqualified for the jobs you want. thus, no jobs.
I know it's the truth, but it's so much more painful when presented to me like that.
|Why can people who didn't even finish high school get jobs? (1) | Posted on June 14, 2012, 5:32 p.m.|

|Sorry to keep asking CE, but what if you can't get in touch with old employers? (1) | Posted on June 14, 2012, 2:04 p.m.|
|When applying for a job, sometimes I need to list previous people who hired me. What if the company went bankrupt or something? I can't just say "Oh sorry, you can't contact my previous employer," can I? That's the only work experience I have, and they shut down due to the terrible economy. What do you do in that situation?|

|I think my having a college degree has actually HURT my chances of employment (1) | Posted on June 14, 2012, 12:14 p.m.|
|more than it has helped. Now even McDonald's won't hire me because I'm overqualified. And since I have no job experience, no white collar job will want me. Of course, the only way to get job experience is through something like retail, but they'll see my education and assume I'll leave two weeks after being trained. This s*** is seriously f***ed up. I want a refund for my degree.|
|Okay, the MLP topics were funny the first 600 times. Now it's getting ridiculous (1) | Posted on June 14, 2012, 11:30 a.m.|
|You bronies are becoming so megalomaniacal that it's just becoming all about the numbers now. The content of these "general" topics are also completely inane and function as little more than a chatroom where you don't even discuss the TV show that's meant for eight-year-old girls. What is this s*** and how has it happened? It's just seriously overstayed its welcome by now.|
|Would you be better off living in Detroit or Pyongyang? (1) | Posted on June 13, 2012, 11:10 p.m.|
|Detroit has the benefit of being free, and plus you can always move to a better place if you want to. Pyongyang has the benefit of being very very safe (i.e. there's no chance of you getting attacked) and you're generally in good shape as long as you obey the rules. However, both places otherwise kind of are not that great. You could even argue that they both suck. Question is: which sucks more?|
|What if an employer calls you for an interview but you don't answer the phone? (1) | Posted on June 13, 2012, 8:27 p.m.|
|Say you were busy or something and were unable to pick up the phone. Does that kill your chances immediately? Or do they assume you had something to do and they call you again later? I'm really worried, having my cell phone with me literally 24/7, but there's always going to be one of those moments where you have to silence your phone, and what if that's the time they decide to call?|
First world problems.

|[Facebook friend] went from being in a relationship to single (1) | Posted on June 13, 2012, 7:11 p.m.|
|Is it rude to like this? I see other people doing it, but isn't that kind of mocking them in a way? If it's a girl, could that be construed as me attempting to make a move? If it's a guy, is it kind of like a slap in the face because he couldn't hold a relationship?|
|Can employers really find out about jobs you leave out on your resume? (3) | Posted on June 13, 2012, 5:25 p.m.|
|Oh damn, does that mean every single job I've had is tied to my social security number? Even if it was a temporary summer job at a privately owned restaurant or something?|
|Can employers really find out about jobs you leave out on your resume? (1) | Posted on June 13, 2012, 5:09 p.m.|
|If a previous job didn't work out so well, and you decide to leave it out because it wouldn't be wise to include them as a reference, can they really track that stuff down? I'm really curious because I'm at the part of the application where it says:|
An applicants employment history, including any terminations, or leaving an employer in lieu of termination, will be thoroughly assessed and may be grounds for disqualification.
How do they find this out?
|Is it ever weird if you just tell a girl directly that you have a crush on her? (1) | Posted on June 13, 2012, 1:17 p.m.|
|Like you just say it with no hidden messages, no reading between the lines, no reading complicated facial expressions? Just a sort of "it is what it is" sort of thing? No beating around the bush, either. Just using the words "I like you" or "I have a crush on you." Is that weird? I'm sure they won't take offense to it. I mean if they can be attractive to a guy, then that should be a plus in their book, right? I'm just wondering if it's ever socially unacceptable to be so explicit. It's sad how I've graduated from college and I still can't figure this out.|
