|Which of the world's real life "wretched hive" cities are the best/worst? (1) | Posted on March 16, 2013, 9:43 p.m.|
Under the Real Life section. I want to say to keep this discussion to the United States, because if it's worldwide, then Mogadishu would be the obvious answer, and that would be boring.
Worst for me are probably Camden, Detroit, and East Saint Louis. Virtually inhabitable.
The mildest examples are probably all of New Jersey, the DMV area, Los Angeles, the Tenderloin of San Francisco and other parts of Northern California, New York City in the past, and the old Canada ones. Those entries seem a bit exaggerated.
|What's so special about the Golden Gate Bridge? Why is it so famous? (1) | Posted on March 16, 2013, 8:04 p.m.|
|It's one of the most famous structures in the world, yet all I can think of is that it's just a bridge connecting a major city to the south to Marin County to the north. What's so special about that? People probably know the Golden Gate Bridge even more than the Brooklyn Bridge by now.|

|Just watched Wreck-It Ralph. Is it just me, or do movies like this kind of... (1) | Posted on March 3, 2013, 2:10 p.m.|
|feel more like movies that belong in an actual movie theater? I never got the same feel with Disney animated features like Aladdin and The Lion King. But with movies like this one, yeah, unmistakeably this would be best suited in a theater with the way it feels. The plot also follows a pretty standard formula that I don't believe was present in the classics of the 1990s. Main character yearns something more than what he has, goes on an adventure and meets people, the villain is revealed and it was really obvious, there's a neat little plot twist, the final battle is climactic but family-friendly at the same time, and the main character reconsiders his priorities.|
Good movie, but the internet seems to like it too much. It's above average but not that groundbreaking, and I'd only give it about 6/10.
|If Northern California is so great, why does it have the Tenderloin and Oakland? (1) | Posted on March 3, 2013, 7:26 a.m.|
|Which are considered some high-crime areas that everybody wants to avoid. I've heard from people on this board that Northern California is better than Southern California, but the North isn't without its share of problems too. There are also places with high murder rates like Stockton around that area, but are these stories blown out of proportion?|
|I have eye tics, a bad habit which causes me to blink excessively all the time (1) | Posted on March 2, 2013, 4:44 p.m.|
|Especially when I'm nervous and/or talking to someone. I imagine that girls see it and automatically get turned off by it. Guys see it and probably think it's laughable. Anyway, it's been a problem for me my whole life (I'm 22 now). At worst, I can blink several times a second (not on purpose or anything). Is there a way to stop it other than manually not blink? Because I've been trying that and it's not working.|

|Has the United States ever gotten into a war for a completely stupid reason? (1) | Posted on Jan. 1, 2013, 2:25 p.m.|
|I don't think the United States has ever picked a fight over something meaningless or trivial. Every time the Americans declare war, it's for a good reason and/or because the enemies are doing something totally wrong. Think about it. For that reason, I would hate to be an enemy of the United States. You'd have to live your life thinking, "Wow, I f***ed up so badly that the U.S. wants me dead."|
Other countries, especially European countries, have fought one another for silly reasons since the beginning of time. The U.S., not so much.
|Does the President of the U.S. know about what the hell goes on inside Area 51? (7) | Posted on Dec. 31, 2012, 11:59 p.m.|
|But the whole testing thing isn't as interesting as this!|
Its secretive nature and undoubted connection to classified aircraft research, together with reports of unusual phenomena, have led Area 51 to become a focus of modern UFO and conspiracy theories. Some of the activities mentioned in such theories at Area 51 include:
The storage, examination, and reverse engineering of crashed alien spacecraft (including material supposedly recovered at Roswell), the study of their occupants (living and dead), and the manufacture of aircraft based on alien technology.
Meetings or joint undertakings with extraterrestrials.
The development of exotic energy weapons for the Strategic Defense Initiative (SDI) or other weapons programs.
The development of means of weather control.
The development of time travel and teleportation technology.
The development of unusual and exotic propulsion systems related to the Aurora Program.
Activities related to a supposed shadowy one world government or the Majestic 12 organization.

Yes, but he somehow found out about it under circumstances not related to his being president
Yes, being elected necessarily entails that you later have to learn about what goes on inside there
No, he's in charge of the whole military, but his guess is as good as yours

|How do bald people actually become that way? (8) | Posted on Dec. 31, 2012, 9:15 p.m.|
|How did bald people exist before all that stuff was invented?|
Obviously I'm not talking about cancer patients or old people. I'm talking about young religious people who shaved their heads completely bald at a time when knives were primitive and they didn't have shaving cream.
|How do bald people actually become that way? (1) | Posted on Dec. 31, 2012, 8:35 p.m.|
|I just went to the barber and intentionally asked for my head to be shaven as bald as possible. She said she could do two kinds: a "zero" and a "one" with zero being absolutely bald. I asked for a zero, and I'm still left with maybe a millimeter of clearly visible hair. You can also feel it pretty clearly. So how do bald people get bald if a razor doesn't do the trick? I'm talking about people whose head is just skin so you don't see any trace of hair on it.|

|Does being in the military make it easier or harder for a guy to attract women? (1) | Posted on Dec. 31, 2012, 1:23 p.m.|

Mme Corinne Buriere. Cordialement En attente de vous lire.
I can actually read the whole thing because I majored in French in college. It's saying they're trying to help poor children and will give me roughly two million dollars. I have a feeling it's from an African country because while the grammar is mostly accurate, I can see a few mistakes here and there. My question is: why the hell would scammers send this message in a dead language?
|I have two songs called "03 - As Long As You Love Me" (1) | Posted on Dec. 30, 2012, 2:07 p.m.|
|One of them is by Backstreet Boys, and the other is by Justin Bieber.|
I only noticed this because while importing my Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas songs, there was a duplicate title. A song with an exact name isn't unheard of, but they both happen to be the third songs in their respective studio albums, so they both also have that "03" in the beginning! Now I have to rename them, and I don't like to do that.
First world problems.

This story is baffling to me because if you're going to commit the felony of stealing an expensive vehicle, wouldn't the money you make from it ($100 a day at most) not be worth anything in comparison? Moreover, wouldn't his first instinct be to hide from the police and not continue stealing customers' money?
